Recently, new progress has been accomplished on the NCIC Phase III Fertilizer Project undertaken by CNCEC-WUHUAN in Egypt as its EPC Contractor. The first key equipment as well as the heaviest single piece of equipment in the project, i.e. the ammonia converter, has been smoothly delivered to the construction site.
Located in the Ain Sokhna Industrial Zone, Suez Governorate, Egypt, the NCIC Phase III Fertilizer Project mainly uses natural gas, phosphate rock and sulfur as raw materials to produce chemical fertilizers such as ammonia, large-granule urea and ammonium phosphate.
As the first project producing synthetic ammonia and urea from natural gas with a Chinese engineering company as the EPC Contractor in the Egyptian market, which has been traditionally dominated by European and American enterprises, successful implementation of this project is of great strategic significance for promoting the upgrading of Egypt's local chemical industry and ensuring regional food security.
