Today, let's take a look at the PUSRI-IIIB Ammonia and Urea Project in Palembang, Indonesia, and witness together the benchmark of outstanding ESG practices established by WUHUAN.
In Palembang City, southern Sumatra Island, Indonesia, the PUSRI-IIIB Ammonia and Urea Project with WUHUAN (under CNCEC) as its EPC Contractor is advancing steadily. This project is newly invested by PT PUPUK Sriwidjaja Palembang, a renowned Indonesian state-owned enterprise. The daily capacities of this project are 1,350 tons of ammonia and 2,750 tons of urea. It is the 6th large-scale EPC general contracting project undertaken by WUHUAN in the Indonesian market.

The project team, together with company-wide efforts, has been deeply engaged in the Indonesian market, creating a large number of jobs for the local area. During project execution, a great many job opportunities will be generated, which will greatly alleviate the local employment pressure and social conflicts while bringing hope to thousands of families and significantly improving the living standards of the locals. At the same time, through hands-on guidance by WUHUAN technicians to local employees, a wealth of highly skilled technical workers and excellent management talents will be cultivated for the local area, laying a solid human resource foundation for WUHUAN to further consolidate its position in the Indonesian market for more years to come.
Apart from hiring a large number of Indonesian employees, WUHUAN is also stepping up efforts to promote local procurement of equipment and materials within Indonesia. This will greatly drive the development of the local equipment manufacturing industry, and promote prosperity of local construction, industrial as well as petrochemical industries. Moreover, the huge volumes of logistics and transportation will also boost the business of surrounding ports and the related industry. Through the above-mentioned efforts and activities, this project has also brought substantial tax revenues to the local government, further promoting its social development, prosperity and stability.

During project execution, while building a high-quality project for the client, the project team also strives to assume social responsibilities by deeply integrating into the local cultural texture and actively interacting with residents from surrounding communities and the PUSRI union. We always show respect to Indonesian traditional culture. During the Islamic Ramadan, we distributed Ramadan-themed dinners to the employees at the client's factory area jointly with the PUSRI union. By enthusiastically participating in such local traditions as distributing Ramadan food to Muslims, we have managed to greatly shorten the psychological distance between Chinese personnel and the local workers of the existing factory, laying a good foundation for subsequent in-depth mutual cooperation and for overseas market expansion.
Upon learning that children in the orphanage near the project site were short of supplies, the project team acted promptly. We not only brought much-needed supplies to the orphans but also carried out cultural interactions with them and introduced to them about the outside world, sowing the seeds of China-Indonesia friendship in their young hearts through sincere and sustained efforts.
To warm the hearts of the children in the orphanage during Ramadan, the project team, after consulting the client, once again extended invitation to the orphans on March 24th. This time, we invited them to join us in the Ramadan dinner gathering. There, project members interacted cordially with the kids. When they received our carefully prepared vegetarian meals, the laughter of both them and our team members was interwoven into the most touching melody, warming the hearts of everyone on the construction frontline as well as at the gathering event.
WUHUAN demonstrates the care & responsibility of Chinese enterprises in this new era through concrete actions. It has written moving stories of "taking projects as the bond and winning hearts through sincere efforts" in foreign lands, enabling the "Belt and Road Initiative" to shine with warm humanistic light in this “land of a thousand islands”.
