Recently, the main structure of the granulation tower for the urea plant of the 300,000 MTPA Fertilizer Project of UCFCL was capped in Zambia. This is a modern urea project contracted by WUHUAN (under CNCEC) in East Africa as the EPC Contractor. Now, the project has fully entered the stage of equipment and pipeline installation.
As the first EPC fertilizer project undertaken by a Chinese engineering company in sub-Saharan Africa, this Zambian project can provide over 2,500 jobs for the local area. Once completed, it stands to offer more than 1,800 stable, long-term jobs, and could effectively alleviate the fertilizer shortage problem in Zambia.
As a member of the national team and the vanguard of China's chemical industry, WUHUAN fully implements the "135" development strategy (i.e. Work for the whole year of 2025 to jumpstart the growth of main economic indices; by 2027, witness significant improvement on main economic indices; by 2029, double these indices on the basis of 2024) of the group Company CNCEC. During project execution, the project team has made meticulous planning on the construction milestones, analyzed the work efficiency data, and implemented the mobilization plans for personnel, machinery and materials. We have overcome such difficulties as the complex geological conditions for the civil engineering foundation, the severe lack of local construction material supply, and the long and arduous domestic mobilization endeavors to ensure that key work sequences are reviewed daily to allow for steady progress of all works. WUHUAN project team leader indicates that in the next step, we will strictly follow the project plan and ensure successful realization of the project contract goals while making zero compromise on safety and quality.
